Skip hire report

1 in 5 skip hires ends in disappointment

According to an independent report by Google into the UK skip industry more than 20% (1 in every 5) of people who hire a skip have a bad experience. We commissioned a Google Consumer Survey of 350 people who had hired a skip in the UK and 71 stated they were dissatisfied with their experience.

The results of this study highlights the fact that there are some fundamental service issues with the UK skip hire industry, and the decision on who you hire your skip from should not just be about price.

Most common problems with hiring a skip

Damage to property

“They dragged the skip half way across my garden and damaged my neighbour’s fence”

Unfriendly and unprofessional communication

“Lorry drivers are rude and find excuses not to leave skips”

Time wasting & late delivery

“They took it away within 24 hours, before I had even used it, saying they needed it urgently for another customer, who would fill it the same day, and that it would be returned to me within 24 hours. One week later, after numerous phone calls/ text messages, they brought a much smaller skip”

Hidden costs

“There’s a lot of red tape. You can easily get caught out about what the total cost can be”
